Welcome to the South Dakota Gelbvieh Association Website. South Dakota boasts a long history with the Gelbvieh breed. Many of the breed's foundation herds in the early 1970's were established in South Dakota. From that solid foundation, South Dakota breeders evolved and built some of the nation's largest herds of Gelbvieh Cattle. South Dakota Gelbvieh breeders continue to produce some of the breed's leading Gelbvieh and Balancer genetics. Nationally, South Dakota is fourth in the number of active cows at 3284 and sixth in the number of active AGA members. We invite you to learn more about Gelbvieh and Balancer cattle from our members and to take time to visit our operations and see the quality that can help move your operations forward in the future.
